IN HER OWN STYLE,

PAOLA SLAYS

ANTAGONISM

Eye Know Movement | by Eye Know Right Shadies

“This fashion stylist made antagonism a reflection of who she is, and the result was good.”

Paola, about her Burgis: “When I was young, I saw yung pagiging matapobre nila. And that reflected who I was. Iniisip ko sa sarili ko na I won’t be like them, that I would share who I am, and what I have.”

Eye Know Right was lucky to be with Paola Bucu; a fashion stylist and costume designer as she shares her story about antagonism and how she overcame it through her art.

The Bully™ must be included for your OOTD against antagonism.

Just like in choosing what to wear, you also need to find the right people that would fit for you in life and be genuinely supportive of what you’re doing.

That was one of the keys for Paola to overcome the feeling of being with your antagonists.

As an artist, being happy and sad at the same time will always be her best mood to slay the day with her creativity.

Paola’s say about being a fashion stylist:

“What I like about it is that you can play as much as you want. You can explore a lot of looks.

On Paola’s “stylist motto”, it is best that you need to learn to talk to them first before you judge or decide what’s fit for them.

According to her:

“Learn about your client or the brand and let them speak for themselves” - Paola Bucu

Paola’s secret to possess those vast ideas and love art even more? Her advice is that: “Take a rest. That’s the most important. Learn to sit down and think of what you really want in life. Just let your mind loose lang. And after that, the energy, and the flow and the creativity would carry on. ”

During her time in college as a digital film-making student, she earned a lot of experiences especially on how to be resourceful that she brought until now as a fashion stylist.

Paola dared to share the importance of art through her design. While saying:

“Right now kapag nagc-create ako ng art like that, mas napapakita ko kung ano ako and napapatunayan ko sa mga tao na I’m an artist.”

Being a good fashion stylist doesn’t mean that you always need to buy luxury in order to be good on your art, cause a budget-friendly “ukay-ukay” is also a place where you can sort out some outfits. That even through a limited budget, you can still manage to make your creativity work.

Despite her talent to transform her clients as perfectly fit with the desired style, we also asked her if there are still struggles that she’s trying to fix. And she goes by saying: “It’s when a time na parang in yourself din, sa sarili mo yung kaaway mo. Na parang you feel na hindi ka enough or napaka-mediocre ng art mo. And a lot of people are judging you for your art.”

So for other artists like her or even to those who are still struggling on choosing their path, here’s what Paola Bucu got for you:

“Try everything. Don’t be afraid. You just have to find it kung ano yung mga options mo. And when you find the best thing na nag-fit sa sarili mo, sa kung anong core mo, then you’re good to go.”

For the young ones who have the heart to pursue their art in the future? These words from Paola, will dress your dreams and prepare your vision for your passion:

“Walang masama mag-try, ‘cause everything is really hard right now.Pinaka-hardest part of life is trying and the first step. So when you go through that first step of trying, then tuloy-tuloy na siya.Magbubunga na lahat ng pinaghirapan mo. And patience also with yourself, kilalanin mo muna sarili mo.”

Paola's good to go with The Burgis™

She said that the Burgis attitude always reminded her that:

“It’s good na hindi ka maging matapobre sa kanila, because they’re going through so much already.”

Like Paola, it is about time to share our struggles and transformations to inspire others. And giving street-kids the chance for a free art education will be a good way to help them.
